Connect via Ethernet: If possible, connect your device directly to the router using an Ethernet cable. Thick walls or obstructions can interfere with signal strength, so being in close proximity may help stabilize the connection.Ĥ. Move closer to the router: If you’re experiencing a weak Wi-Fi signal, try moving closer to the router to improve the connection. This will help determine whether the issue is specific to your device or a broader connectivity problem.ģ. Check other devices: If you have other devices connected to the internet, such as smartphones or tablets, test if they can access the internet. Allow them to initialize and reconnect to the internet.Ģ. Turn off your router and modem, wait for a few seconds, and then turn them back on. Restart your router and modem: Sometimes, a simple reset can resolve connectivity issues. Here’s what you can do to check your internet connection:ġ. A shaky internet connection can often lead to issues with streaming services like Hulu, including problems with subtitles. I’ve never had this problem on like a Roku tv or anything and now that I can get around it things are at least watchable with captions again but yeah they seriously need to fix it.Before delving into more complex troubleshooting methods, it’s important to start with the basics. If I don’t pause it first before refreshing, the subtitles don’t reset and it starts over from the complete beginning including the little intros that are like a couple seconds and can’t be skipped through, it was very annoying having to figure that part out from trial and error. There are certain shows that pretty much every episode starts out synced wrong on my laptop (only certain ones, no idea why it’s the ones it is but Letterkenny and Hannibal have been the worst offenders) and what seems to fix it every time is to pause it a few seconds in once the subtitles have kicked in (they’re always a few seconds ahead of the actual speech for me), refresh the page, and then the video jumps to sync with where the subtitles were (never the other way around) and then I go back a few seconds to the actual start of the episode and it’s fine from there. They also cut single words often that don't impact things, but frustrate me because I've just got hearing loss and tinnitus, so I can hear, just not everything. But even just watching Unstable I had to turn them off because they were annoying me. I knew this was a problem with foreign releases like Squid Game. Often the meaning is the same, but a joke will lose impact. All I can figure is they are typing the script before air and the actors are adlibbing differences. Netflix originals meanwhile have some of the most wildly inaccurate captions I've ever seen. Accuracy is great though, even on shows I know they are adlibbing away from the original script. All I watch on there are Apple originals, so I don't know how well other content fairs. ![]() If you rewind it they will often display correctly so it's coded correctly, it just is a playback issue. One line will display too long and then a second, longer one, either isn't shown at all or flashes up briefly. On a Roku TV, my PC, and several android phones we never have a delay on it.Īpple TV will delay or stick, not sure which. Accuracy varies from show to show I imagine part of it is related to dealing with various networks who upload the captioned content. I actually find theirs to be better than Netflix or Apple TV's.
